Harley Quinn has had a bumpy trip during his time at the DCEU. While he is still one of the most popular characters since his initial debut in Suicide Squad, there were some problems with the first important appearance of him. The biggest problem that fans have been pointing out is that Suicide Squad sexualizes Harley with the sole purpose of attracting the masculine look.
He began without much of his own personality, because he was the only main purpose of him was to serve as support for the Joker. The outfits, behaviors and actions of her were all extremely lascivious by nature, and the only thing that really worried him in Suicide Squad was that Joker would like it. In essence, it was based on the opinions of a psychotic male terrorist (and poorly written).

Birds of Prey definitely took these defects into account in the design of her character, giving new life to Harley and portraying her as a person, instead of an object. She cried after going through a break, she went to a bar to have something when she needed to have fun, he took care of her mascot and almost loses her head when she dropped her sandwich to the ground.
